19th Century Gold and Diamond Kris Dagger
19th Century Gold and Diamond Kris Dagger
A ceremonial dagger from Malaysia featuring a long, wavy (luk) iron blade with a darkened patina. The hilt and scabbard are fully encased in densely engraved gold metalwork, decorated with floral scrollwork and a gemstone-set boss at the crossguard. A sacred heirloom (pusaka) as much as a weapon, the keris was a symbol of noble status and spiritual power in Malay culture.
